The first stones of what was originally a Master house date back to around 1745.Sous the old regime, the field of Muids is property of feminine abbey of Saint Loup, near Orleans. Confiscated ecclesiastical as well, all is sold March 30, 1791.

In 1828, Thomas Skottowe, English original, son of Richard Skottowe, the British Crown officer lives in Orleans. Enamored of our sweet and mysterious Sologne, he decided to buy the property and create it with the Domaine des Muids, on an area of ​​2000 hectares. Gradually the house becomes Château. In 1869 the estate was bought by the Maes family.
